Accomplishments

March marks the beginning of the second month of Stay-At-Home-Steve.  While we were lying in bed last night I asked him what he felt he has accomplished during his time off.  “Well, there’s the fire…” he said, in reference to the first day of his new life, which he spent keeping a fire going from when he woke up in the morning until he went to bed that night.  “Oooo, and the playhouse!” referring to the half finished walls and stack of wood in the back yard.  “And I’ve been growing this beard,” he said.  I didn’t want to rain on his accomplishments, but I hardly think the beard can be counted among them, seeing as how it’s a pretty lousy beard and not all disarming like Al Gore’s or even fashioned into a windmill or anything.

Yes.

Yes.

YES.

YES.

No.

No.

When a bad beard is all you have to say for yourself for the past two months, I think it’s time to start looking for a job.  And for god’s sake, please don’t put the beard on your resume.

I wrote this little ditty last week.  Before it went to press, S.A.H.S. accomplished two things: One, he shaved the beard.  And two, he built this sweet new site for Just Barely.  Now how’s THAT for an accomplishment?

Your thoughts on the new site?

I was simply testing E’s theory that “you get a beard from drinking beer.” But whatever, that fire was boss.

Love the new site, especially the graphic accompaniments to the stories. Very funny!

The new ‘Just Barely’ home is definitely a more resume worthy subject than the beard! Nice job! You can almost pass as ‘legit’ ;)

Try a Buck-stache if you haven’t yet set lofty goals for March. Website looks great.

Nice work stay-at-home-Steve! I’m only slightly more impressed by the windmill beard…but the site is fantastic.

You would think that Steve’s working knowledge of science would help him craft a better beard…

I like SAHS – we all want to be like SAHS.

Well done on the site! It’s just the right balance of feminine and eclectic! I love it!!

P.S. – does this comment count torwards the Ranger Up bet? I want to donate a $1.00 and I think Amy will look much HOTTER in the pink shorts than Nick. Though, the idea of Nick doing a photo shoot in short shorts is quite amusing. Sigh… if I only I lived closer to witness it all. I could have enjoyed the beard (and the fire) in person!

It’s pretty well established that the growth rate and fulness of a man’s beard are controlled by hormones. Some of these may be generated by the moon, or genetic factors, or chemicals in the environment. The rest are from his wife. Just saying. Someday you’ll appreciate those fire-keeping skills, too.

It’s a well-told story, though, and you ought to keep writing like that, just to prove that Nick at Ranger Up was right. And because, you know, vets rock.

    Nick was right.

    Vets kick ass!

Good stuff here. Keep up the writing gig.

PS – Can’t wait to see you in the short shorts and tank top! ;-)

    AND…

I guess I need to shave my “boy beard” as well.
